Our Favorite Mental Health Design Project: Kutoa Project

Working with a Counseling and Therapy Center

Sereth Design prioritizes working with brands involved in the arts, mental health, sustainability, and equal opportunity. Recently, we worked with the Kutoa Project. They are a counseling, therapy, and education service center in Nairobi, Kenya, to help them redesign their 5-year-old branding and bring life and vibrance to their website.

We wanted to take an opportunity to share more about the ways they help support the mental health of their local community because they practice a mission that is close to our heart.

What We Love About Kutoa Project

As you may know, one of our brand pillars here at Sereth Design is working with heart-led brands. Our definition of a heart-led brand is a brand working towards making a difference or telling its story through. When we partner with brands, we help them achieve those things through thoughtful and refined brand and website design.

When the Kutoa project reached out, we were ecstatic to learn more about their mission: to provide therapeutic social services in a safe, faith-filled environment.

Their work is accomplished by equipping Kenyan youth who have been affected by violence, abuse, homelessness, trafficking, disease, or loss with therapeutic services. The Kutoa Project works to meet and support those affected by traumatic experiences right where they are while offering healing through hopeful, purposeful, and faith-filled counseling services.

The Mental Health Services They Offer:

Individual & Group Counseling

At the Kutoa Project, their primary service to the local community is individual and group counseling for children and adolescents ages 6 through 25. They work to create a safe space for these individuals to find hope, healing, and restoration.

Trauma-Informed Care Training

Moving beyond helping students who directly enter their doors, they are hosting Professional Caregiver Training throughout Kenya. They value equipping those who may be interacting with vulnerable children with the resources and knowledge they need to help children find a safe space to begin their healing journeys.

Community Enrichment

The Kutoa Project is passionate about creating programs and positive support systems in their local community. With this work, they have given countless numbers of children and teens a safe space to connect and develop socially.

The Kutoa Project Brand

The Kutoa Project branding was inspired by Kitenge cloth, which is an East African, West African, and Central African fabric. The fabric is worn often, and its patterns are vibrant and full of life. Similarly, Kutoa Project seeks to bring life and renewal back to those who have experienced trauma. The symbols within the icon each symbolize various values for Kutoa Project: safety, faith, growth, and hope. Overall, the look is created with vibrance, energy, comfort, and joy in mind.

Ready to Refine Your Mental Health Brand?

We work with brands to elevate their mental health messaging. We believe in the power that comes with proper mental health support, and when you combine that with the visual influence of a calm, welcoming, tender, thoughtful brand, you can start filling people with hope before they even talk to you.

What the Kutoa Project Said:

“In our first 5 years, a lot happened that transformed Kutoa Project. When looking to tell our evolving story in a new and vibrant way, we found Esther, our web designer and branding guru. Her expertise helped us redefine and reimagine the story we’ve been a part of building for so long in the most thoughtful and intentional way.”

What you can expect when you work with us:
