Fostering Student Emotional Growth

01 BRAND IDENTITY
02 LESSON PLAN DESIGN
03 SOCIAL MEDIA

Jason from The Emotions Educator dreamt of a place where teachers have all the tools to manage emotions in the classroom, so he built it!

The Emotions Educator is a catalyst for change in the classrooms where they transform into havens where teachers possess the essential tools to understand and effectively manage emotions and teach their students how to harness them.

The mission was simple: to help teachers navigate and connect with their students.

The ask: to take the literature and transform them into lesson plans, visual guides, and resources that are easy for teachers to access, navigate, and connect with their students on a deeper level.

Empathy, Compassion & Trust

As we dug into understanding what The Emotions Educator stands for, it was imperative that we understand that each student and teacher has a unique emotional landscape. The tools needed to cater to all levels both emotionally and at all intelligence thresholds. As we thought through the strategy prior to design we wanted it to feel positive, inclusive, and above all: embraces emotional well-being.

Emotive and Personal

As we designed the brand identity for The Emotions Educator, it was important for us to infuse personality and emotion — after all, this is what the brand is all about.

We sought for the logo to feel like a mix of teacher scratch, human touch, lively for a younger audience, and feel as though it could connect and resonate with many individuals. The icon and logo itself represents a human in heart form, bringing the humanity into the brand. The sublogo “EE” carries through the soft smile in the cheek curve to bring it together.

Range of Emotions

Through the color palette we sought to ensure all emotions are met. When we look at color, each color can symbolize a different emotion. Both positive and negative for each.

For examples: blue for sadness and calm; red for anger and passion; pink for joy and shyness; green for growth and envy; yellow for happiness and deceit; orange for vitality and pride.

All colors can hold various emotions, which is why we held all colors in our wheelhouse to allow for variation in how we communicate.

Structure Meets Scratch

Through our font pairings, we seamlessly blend the robust elegance of a strong serif font with the whimsical charm of a teacher's handwritten script. This unique fusion marries the structured reliability of traditional typography with the spontaneous, personal touch of handwritten elements, creating a harmonious balance that not only captures attention but also infuses the design with personality and character.

The strong serifs provide a foundation of strength and stability, while the handwritten font introduces a delightful and organic flair, akin to the individuality found in a teacher's markings on a student's paper. This dynamic combination not only elevates the visual appeal of our design but also adds a human touch, making the communication not just aesthetically pleasing but also warmly engaging and relatable.

Emotions and Personas

As we searched for icons and emojis that were inline with our brand (hand-drawn, emotive, and unique), we found the perfect illustrator whose icons we utilize in our materials. The emoji and personas collections she created serve a range of emotions and a fun personality that mesh beautifully with our brand logo and style.

Designing the Materials

We designed a collection of materials that serve as tools for teachers. These collections included printable classroom guides, presentation templates, lesson plans, social media resources, and more. Each of our brand extensions were created to help serve teachers in their deepest needs to help communicate the importance of emotions with their students in whatever way they found most impactful.

WHAT THEY SAID

“This is stellar and so fun! I love the ease of the brand and how it creates a unique personality that will draw in eyes and really get teachers excited about the resources we’re providing them.”
