Watumull Children’s Education believes that all children should have access to affordable, quality education to grow and pursue lasting dreams. The founder, Chitra Watumull Wright, has a big goal—for every child in our world to have access to primary and secondary education.

Sereth Design was brought on to help tell their story in a compelling way by expanding their brand and their website. The main goal: to engage and compel donors to partner with Watumull Children’s Education to help build schools and train educators.

Messaging that Moves

One of the primary goals of this project was to create a lasting impression not just through visuals—but through the messaging shared both digitally and in person.

We worked with Watumull Children’s Education to scrub their messaging to empower, uplift, and invigorate a donor audience while sharing the real truths of the education gap.

We developed the phrase “Cycle-Breaking Education” to be an empowering statement that shows the impact of the work WCE does through their school-building and educator training programs.

THE DESIGN MOODBOARD

The Big Education Expedition

The brand came to life through the design emulated from children’s storybooks—and the idea that each time a child opens a storybook, they are stepping into a new world and exploring all that knowledge has to offer. We named this idea “The Big Education Expedition,” which would become a foundation for the visual brand.

We brought the journey alive through a vibrant, bright color palette, and African themed expeditions (that tie into the Kenyan landscape) and paired it with novel layouts and handwritten type. The lines interwoven throughout the branding resembled the bright path that the children have to look forward to, that is part of their journey and growth.

An Online Playground

Prior to working with Sereth Design, WCE’s website was bare-boned. They had the necessary information, but the user experience was lacking. For an organization that was providing education and a joyful experience for children, we knew their digital home had to reflect that!

The main guiding force for the website direction was to be a storybook but also a digital playground—a space where users can’t stop scrolling, exploring, engaging, and learning. The journey feels continuous and draws in viewers and potential donors.

Donor Touchpoints

In order to connect with new donors, the team regularly sends out information via newsletters—handwritten letters, that is! The founder, Chitra Watumull-Wright, believes that writing is personal and allows her to connect with donors in a unique way. We created materials that would help her do just that and have the consistency that the brand craves.

WHAT THEY SAID

“Working with Sereth Design was such a blessing. They listened intently to what we needed, and delivered a brand, strategy, and website that was beyond what we could expect. It was perfect! We are looking forward to more growth and more lives touched!!”
